Filipino Fans Spend for the ¡°Return¡± of Vic Zhou


F4 fever is alive and kicking; this time each member of the famous Taiwanese boy band has its own fan power.
Undoubtedly, one of the most popular of the four guys is Vic Zhou. Zai Zai to his million of fans. At 23, after his famous debut in Meteor Garden, which became an Asian phenomena, even here (in the Philippines), two well-received solo albums, six successful soaps and numerous endorsements later, his fan base worldwide further increases that an umbrella organization was established on June 9, 2002, the exact day of Zai Zai¡¯s birthday which was named VicPower with its official website www.vicpower.net.

To date, the number of registered members has reached more than 31,000, most of them from China, Hong Kong, Macau, Philippines, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, US, Canada, and other countries.

The website of Vic has a daily traffic flow numbering to 10,000 with the club president, person-in-charge of the main branches and different work groups, are responsible for the daily maintenance, creating and recording of videos and clips, and keeping the news up to date. The exchange of information is remarkable in between the countries¡¯ clubs as we have personally witnessed last Friday.

VicPower.net¡¯s Philippine moderators Precy Ngo and Suzette See, the media group composed of Kaye Cendreda, Maan Geronimo, Lalaine Mesina, Mia Sebastian and Grace Ramos and through the able support of Mommy Cora Lim, organized a two stroke event launch¡ª¡°REVV Up¡±, the Philippine launch of Vicpower.net and Mars Pep Rally in classy Carrera M Caf¨¦ in PGA Cars, EDSA. It was only fan power that generated the said event and we were impressed.

Among F4 fans, specially the diehard Vic enthusiast, it cannot be denied that their idol has a new soap, Mars (or Mars God, Taiwanese title Zhan Shen) which is now number one in Asian countries. GMA has recently announced its acquisition thus, the VicPower.net pep rally for their support. GMA has yet to reveal its schedule or time slot to us but as early as now Vic Zhou fans are fully organized to welcome the show¡¯s premiere.

In the grand launch held, several clips from the show were shown, and for each new clip, fans were screaming. But these are not your average screaming fans, we have never seen a fan club as organized as this. The cost of the venue including the food alone is quite expensive paid for by their members. Vic¡¯s actual jacket which was used in a scene (from Mars) was ¡°imported¡± from the main club was displayed at the venue. Big tarpaulin posters were printed and displayed. A side story of Mommy Cora revealed that aside from going to Taiwan to meet and greet their idol, at their own expense of course, they also organize Mars advance showings in hotels where said show was initially shown in selected cable channels.

Now that they¡¯ve learned that GMA has acquired the series¡¯ rights, VicPower is gearing up and joining forces to drum interest for the said series to support a successful run for Mars.

For them, there is only one god, it¡¯s Vic Zhou, and only one show to wait for, Mars God.
